Youth Workshop Program
Positive Street Art’s New Year Resolution for 2017 is to revitalize our workshop program and bring the focus of our mission back to the youth of our community. In establishing a strong base for the Youth Workshop Program we will be able to better support: emerging artists in the community, aspiring instructors, and most importantly, Nashua’s youth. We’ve seen some success and growth in our dance and young adult workshops, and while we will continue to build on those programs, we are extending our resources to shape our future generation. The Youth Workshop Program will serve as a positive, alternative activity for our youth in their daily lives. These workshops will be a tool for our youth to artistically express themselves and will provide them with a new source of education. The primary focus of the workshops will be art however, it will be PSA’s mission to implement themes of leadership, self esteem, community building, decision making, and so many other celebrated life skills throughout the teachings provided.
ARTISTS WE NEED YOU!
If you are an artist or community leader who wants to make a difference in Nashua, PSA has an opportunity for you! Take all of your passion for the arts and ideas of strong community involvement and make them a reality! As a Youth Workshop Instructor for PSA, you have the opportunity to design and implement your very own educational workshop that will impact the lives of youth in Nashua.
Instructors are invited and encouraged to submit a workshop proposal to PSA in order to introduce us to your goals as an artist and mentor for the youth in our community. The proposal consists of an outline of the workshop objectives and details on how those objectives will be met. Instructors will be required to submit a budget along with their plan. Once the proposal is submitted and reviewed, the instructor will be invited to meet one-on-one with the Workshop Coordinator to discuss next steps!
Workshop themes and timelines are malleable to each artist, instructor, and workshop participant. Examples of themes can range from drawing, canvas creations, mural painting, photography, visual poetry, etc. The possibilities are endless! PSA can support a full-day workshop, 6-week, 8-week, or 12-week workshop depending on the objectives outlined in the plan.
